The 7s format has seen the Philippine Volcanoes on a remarkable rise proving nothing is impossible. Beginning in 2005 as an exhibition sport for the South East Asia Games, the Philippines now boast a remarkable record since their inclusion into the Asia Rugby Sevens Series. From a 2011 second place finish in Borneo, to a 3rd place finish in 2012 at the Singapore 7s, to qualification and participation at the 2013 7s Rugby World Cup becoming the first Philippine National Team to qualify for any World Championships in 50 years.
The most recent success recording a Gold medal finish at the 2017 Asia Trophy Series held in Doha. All this in just 10 years after their inclusion of 7s Rugby into the Philippines. The National Men's 7s team will compete in the following tournaments in 2018 Asia Rugby Sevens Series - Hong Kong: September 14 & 15 - Korea: September 29 & 30 - Sri Lanka: October 13 & 14
